LUCKNOW : In view of the new Covid strain reported in some countries, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday directed officials to trace people who came from abroad in the past 15 days.

The state government also decided to get all people who came to UP from the United Kingdom after December 7 tested for Covid to ensure that they were not infected with the new variant of the virus.

Local administration in all districts should ensure contact tracing and quarantine of all such people who returned from foreign countries, said Yogi while reviewing the Covid-19 situation at a high level meeting at his Lok Bhawan office here Tuesday. He asked the state health department to issue a helpline number in this regard. The authorities should ensure that private laboratories did not charge more than Rs 700 for conducting the RT-PCR test.
