Camps on Ayodhya’s Ram temple theme to dominate Magh Mela-2021
PRAYAGRAJ: The saints and organizations coming to the annual Magh Mela-2021 on the banks of the Sangam from all over the country, including Ayodhya, Mathura and different cities of Rajasthan and Gujarat, are preparing to build camps on the theme of the Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya.
The 57-day fair will start with Makar Sankranti bathing on January 14 and conclude with Maha Shivratri bathing on March 11, 2021.
“The main structure of the camps that would resemble the temple or get constructed on its theme would be water-proof and majority would have the saffron colour dominating them,” informed Pappu Gupta, one of the contractors engaged by saints and organizations to set up their camps in the Mela area.
Though local workers and artists are also involved in the work, the main task was undertaken by experienced people from Kolkata and Ayodhya specializing in this craft, he added.
The cost of these camps would vary according to intricacies of design, size and other things. The contractors were reluctant to share the financial details, but one of them named Mewalal said, most such mega camps would cost lakhs.
Some of the saints who have decided to shape their Magh Mela-2021 camps on the shape and theme of the proposed Ram Temple in Ayodhya include Mahant Balak Das of Ayodhya, Mahant Ramdhani and Swami Prakharanand of Gujarat among others. Another noted saint Swami Ramsubhag Das ‘Binaika Baba’ of Ayodhya shared that he had also decided to have the main gate of his camp shaped and designed on the proposed model of Ram temple of Ayodhya. “It’s all in honour of Lord Ram and his followers,” he said.
A few camps would also be built inspired by some other temples of the country, including Kailasa Temple of Ellora, Kashi Vishwanath Temple of Varanasi and Dwarka temple and Jagannath Temple of Puri.
