1,233 fresh cases in UP; Lko reports 252 cases
LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Covid count reached 5,77,642 with 1,233 fresh cases, including maximum 252 reported in Lucknow, while the death toll reached 8,245 with 22 fresh fatalities on Wednesday.
Kanpur reported 60 fresh cases, Prayagraj 61, Ghaziabad 59, Gautam Buddh Nagar 67, Meerut 75 and Varanasi 53.
Lucknow was the only district to report fresh cases in three digits. The number of discharged patients in Lucknow was zero in the state health department data but the office of the chief medical officer of Lucknow said 174 patients were discharged during the day.
Lucknow reported maximum 4 deaths, Kanpur 3 and Varanasi 2. One death each was reported in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Gorakhpur and Bareilly. In the past 24 hours, 1,102 Covid-19 patients have been discharged.
“The recovery rate in Lucknow among covid patients is 94.90%,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors. Fresh cases in Lucknow were reported from Indira Nagar (29), Cantt (12), Gomti Nagar (22), Talkatora (15), Ashiyana (11) and Rae Bareli Road (12).
KGMU staff demand pending perks
The KGMU employees association has demanded the university officials to execute and provide the pending financial benefits to the employees. “The KGMU employees have been working since months without leave and without any agitation or demonstration as happened in other medical institutes of the state capital. Despite this, the financial benefits dually approved by the state government are not being given to them,” said Pradip Gangwar, president of the association.
