Covid vaccination centres to also come up at pvt hosps
LUCKNOW : Apart from government health facilities, Covid vaccination centres will come up at private hospitals.
“We have government hospitals and community health centres where the vaccination centres will be functional as soon as the vaccine arrives. But to cover different areas, some private hospitals will also be having these vaccination centres,” said Dr MK Singh, in-charge of routine immunisation in Lucknow.
He said the selection of the hospitals will be done as per certain criteria, the first being ample space and temporary storage facility for the vaccine. Hospitals will provide venue/space while the entire vaccination process will be conducted under the supervision of the government health staff.
Sample this: If the population in Indira Nagar has to be covered under Covid vaccination and the two centres to come up at the women and child hospitals fall short against the number of people to be vaccinated, then the vaccination centres will also be made in two or more private hospitals in different pockets of Indira Nagar. Three rooms – one for screening and ID matching, one for vaccination and the third for waiting after vaccination – as done in government vaccination centres – will be made at private hospitals too. “Everything will be the same at both the government and private centres,” said Singh.
To increase the number of vaccination centres, participation of private sector hospitals will be significant. This will ensure that the entire population is covered under the vaccination drive within the slated timeline, said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors.
Each centre will vaccinate 100 beneficiaries in a day. All individuals, after vaccination, will wait for 30 minutes in the waiting room, where at least 30 chairs will be kept at a safe distance from each other. In case of any reaction or medical problem, help will be provided at the vaccination centre only.
