Government school principals to tour top institutions, be exposed to best practices
LUCKNOW : Under the school development scheme, government school principals who had done a commendable job would be identified and be sent on a tour to the country’s top educational institutions to learn some of the best practices. Later, they would implement them in their own schools, said UP basic education minister Satish Chand Dwivedi on Wednesday.
The minister said, “We are in the process of identifying bright school principals who introduced innovative practices to motivate students. They will tour the country’s best schools to pick up some of their best practices to take their institutions to a higher level.” The Uttar Pradesh education department has launched a campaign to enhance grade level competence of primary and upper primary students through foundation learning.
Aadharshila (foundation), dhyan-aakarshan (attracting attention for remedial learning) and shikshak sangrah (teacher’s compendium) are the three key areas on which government school teachers will now focus in a big way.
“Basically, teachers of government primary and upper primary schools will concentrate on improving language skills, oral fluency, comprehension and numerical skills,” Dwivedi said.
To further help teachers, the department had uploaded over 4,000 video tutorials on Diksha app to achieve the desired learning outcome and improve competence of 1.58 crore students enrolled in government schools, the minister said.
