GRAM PANCHAYATS’ TERM ENDS TODAY, ADMINISTRATORS TO BE APPOINTED
LUCKNOW : With the five-year tenure of over 58,000 gram panchayats ending on Friday (December 25), the state government had decided to appoint administrators to manage the affairs of these bodies till the election.
A state government officer said the district magistrates had been directed to appoint administrators of gram panchayats. Assistant development officers of the development blocks will be appointed as administrators of the gram panchayats.
Director of the Panchayati Raj Department directed the DMs to unregister the digital signature certificate (DSC) of gram pradhans on e-gram Swaraj portal on Friday midnight. The gram pradhans were spending the funds allotted by the 15th Finance Commission and the 5th State Finance Commission under public finance management system (PFMS) and e-gram Swaraj.
The DMs were directed to make no payment to the gram pradhans after December 25. If any payment was made, the gram panchayat secretary, SDO and DPRO panchayats will be held responsible.
Panchayati Raj minister Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary on Thursday indicated that the elections to the three-tier panchayats in the state will be completed by the end of March next year.
Preparations for the panchayat elections were continuing. The state government had upgraded 28 villages as nagar panchaysts.
