Lucknow’s daily case count dipped to below 200-mark, as per the health department.

In July, the state’s fresh case count remained below 1,000 but since the second week of July daily cases kept rising till September third week, after which a downward trend was witnessed. On Sunday, the state capital logged 199 fresh cases, Kanpur 35, Ghaziabad 45, Gautam Buddh Nagar 19, Meerut 64 and Varanasi 62. Lucknow saw three deaths, Varanasi two, one each in Prayagraj and Meerut. “The recovery rate in Lucknow is 94.90%,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors.

“Lack of adherence to Covid protocol by people is one of the key reasons why cases in Lucknow are not coming down,” said Shukla.
