LUCKNOW: An eight-member committee of experts constituted to finalise the design for the Ram temple’s foundation is likely to submit its report to the temple construction committee at the latter’s meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday, said a person close to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust chairman Mahant Nritya Gopal Das on Sunday.

The proposed meeting is likely to address obstacles in the foundation work of the temple. The construction work got delayed after loose sand was found during the testing of foundation pillars in Ayodhya recently.

“The expert committee is likely to submit its report to the Ram Mandir Construction Committee on Tuesday in New Delhi. They will also give their suggestions on how to make the temple’s foundation strong,” said Mahant Kamal Nayan Das, the successor designate to Mahant Nritya Gopal Das.

Nripendra Misra, chairman of the construction committee, will preside over the meeting. Prof VS Raju, former director of the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi, heads the expert committee. From Ayodhya, trust general secretary Champat Rai and its member Dr Anil Mishra are also expected to attend the meeting.

According to the trust, the expert committee has reviewed soil investigations carried out by Larsen and Toubro, the company tasked with construction work of the temple.

The committee has also evaluated the possibility of liquefaction of soil under seismic hazards.

The committee has reviewed sub-soil conditions, including toxic chemicals present in the sub-soil, environmental factors, superimposed dead and live loads, seismic loads, underground water currents on account of the Ram temple site’s proximity to the Saryu river. The committee has also looked into precedents of similar structures constructed in the recent past in either India or abroad and whether the methodology adopted is appropriate for the Ram temple.

The committee has also reviewed the foundation design proposed by Larsen and Toubro keeping in view the quality of construction and longevity of the temple.

Experts have also reviewed the choice of construction material proposed by Larsen and Toubro.
