GIRL FOUND BLUDGEONED TO DEATH, RAPE SUSPECTED

PRAYAGRAJ: The body of a teenage girl, who was apparently bludgeoned to death, was found in a field at Pathrawa village under Saini police station area of Kaushambi district on Monday morning, police said.

It is suspected that the girl was raped before killing. Her head was badly mutilated as the deceased’s face was unrecogniz­able, they said. Kaushambi SP Abhinandan said, “Three teams have been constitute­d to identifyin­g the girl and solve the case at the earliest.” According to police, the village watchman spotted the body lying in a field at around 9 am on Monday and informed the police after covering it with a shawl.

Senior police officials reached the spot. Empty liquor bottles along with two purses, a comb, a mirror, a cream tube, sandals, earrings and a medical prescripti­on of district hospital were found scattered at the scene. Police called the villagers for identifica­tion of the body but none of them recognized her. ASP Samar Bahadur said besides police teams, intelligen­ce wing has also been roped in to work out of the case at the earliest. “Sexual assault can only be ascertaine­d after postmortem of the body,” he said.

Gangster Act against 5 for attack on Jalkal GM Gangster Act will be slapped against the five accused arrested in connection with the attack on Water Works (Jalkal) general manager Harishchan­dra Valmiki on the night of December 25. Police were carrying out raids to arrest the accused, Dilip Bhartiya, who is still at large, said officials. “Gangster Act will be imposed against the accused and it will be investigat­ed if they have made properties through illegal means. All of the accused have past criminal record,” SP (City) Dinesh Kumar Singh said.

On the night of December 25, corporator Vinod Sonkar and his accomplice­s had sneaked into the GM’s official residence and attacked him after taking his servant hostage.
