LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh (UP) basic education department is providing graded reading books to enhance the educational skills of more than 1.5 crore students studying in primary schools.

These graded reading books will increase the ability of the students to read and learn, said an official of the basic education department. “The language of these books has been kept very simple which will enable students to learn easily,” the official said. The government school will now run remedial classes for students to help them catch up with classroom teaching if they have not fared well in exam, the official said.

Apart from this, report card of students studying in primary and upper primary schools of the state will be shared with their parents to help them know about the learning outcome of their child, the official added.

“The teacher will also share the students’ information during the formal meeting with the parents in the school,” he added.

The department of basic education had recently conducted supportive aptitude test (SAT) to enhance education skills among the students. In this, students were given grades from A to E. It is to be mentioned that for students who have got D and E grades, separate remedial classes will be run in schools.

The department of basic education has introduced a system of real-time monitoring to check the progress of students studying in primary and upper primary schools. This will help identify students who are average in students and conduct separate classes for them, officials said.
