AIMIM LAUNCHES DOOR-TO-DOOR MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

PRAYAGRAJ: All India Majlis-eIttehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) has launched door-to-door campaign and membership drive in a bid to expand its base in Prayagraj and adjoining districts. AIMIM is mobilising youths and is raising local issues of people as part of their strategy to garner support.

Confident after party’s achievemen­t in Bihar elections, AIMIM leaders in Prayagraj are working with enthusiasm and vigour. Besides preparing for municipal and legislativ­e elections, party is also eyeing panchayat polls. Senior leaders are selecting candidates who have strong support in rural areas and are familiar with issues of people there.

Under its campaign “Ghar ghar dastak, har ghar Majlis” AIMIM leaders and workers are increasing their members. The campaign is presently being launched in old city areas of South and West constituen­cies and will soon be expanded, party leaders said.

AIMIM district president Mohd Shah Alam said party had been campaignin­g door to door since last eight days in localities of old city. People of all communitie­s were being approached by party men and being informed about party’s objectives and achievemen­ts. Within few days at-least 1200 people mainly youths have joined the party. Alam added.

Former city president Afsar Mehmood said AIMIM would contest assembly, panchayat and municipal elections with vigour and is confident of securing seats. The party is receiving massive support of people who have witnessed its strength in recent Bihar elections. Party is selecting candidates for panchayat elections which are near, he said.

AIMIM city youth president Iftekhar Ahmad said at present party is raising local issues related to people. Party has recently staged massive protests against irregular electricit­y, water supply, poor roads and other basic amenities. Developmen­t and basic facilities and infrastruc­ture to people will be the core agenda on which party will contest elections.
