Woman murder case solved, one arrested

PRAYAGRAJ: Kaushambi police claimed to have cracked the murder of a young woman whose body was found in the fields at Pathrawa village under Saini police station on Monday morning within 24 hours of the incident.

A police team arrested a man who acted as mediator in woman’s marriage but was unhappy with her behaviour at her in-laws house in this connection, police said.

SP-Kaushambi Abhinandan said the body was identified as that of Kalavati, 21, wife of Suggan of Hakeempur village. Hailing from Dhanni village of Kokhraj area, Kalawati’s marriage took place recently with the help of one Ballu Kanaujia. However, She was not on good terms with her husband and in-laws. Her parents and in-laws both used to pull up Ballu for the scuffles.

On Sunday night Ballu took Kalavati with him on his bicycle on pretext of dropping her home and took her near the canal at Pathrawa village and hit her head with stone and fled.

SP Abhinandan said Kalawati has recently visited district hospital and a prescripti­on was found at the crime scene which helped in her identifica­tion and working out the blind case.

FIR against YouTuber for defaming student leader

Colonelgan­j police lodged an FIR against a YouTuber for allegedly defaming former office bearer of Allahabad University Student Union (AUSU). The student leader Adeel Hamza alleged that the YouTuber put a video on social media platform and internet in which he claimed that pro-Pakistan slogans were raised while celebratin­g his release from jail where he was sent during a protest. The accused tried to malign the popularity of the student leader while arousing communal feelings, the student leader Hamza claimed.

SHO Colonelgan­j Awan Kumar Dixit said an FIR has been lodged under sections 153-A, 469 and 499 of IPC and investigat­ions were being carried out in this connection. The videos will be examined and further action will be taken, he added.

Farmer killed in Kaushambi

A 52-years-old farmer was hacked to death in Kishunpur Ambari village under Sarai Akil police station of Kaushambi district late Monday night. Some suspects have been detained in connection with the incident, police said.

According to reports, resident of Sihorwa village Tabrez Ahmad was sleeping in the courtyard of his neighbour Khattu’s house. Late in the night, unidentifi­ed miscreants attacked Tabrez with sharp edged weapons when he was fast asleep. Khattu was awake and raised an alarm but the assailants have fled by then. Senior police officials reached the spot and carried out investigat­ions.

Circle officer Shyamkant said some suspects of the same village had been rounded up for questionin­g in this connection.
