Upgrade Covid labs for testing new strain of virus, says Yogi

LUCKNOW : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday has asked officials to upgrade the Covid-19 testing labs in the state considering the new strain of coronavirus that emerged in the United Kingdom.
“Upgrade the Covid labs in the state and make all arrangements for testing. It’s necessary to be proactive for breaking the chain of infection. Keep surveillance and contact tracing mechanism efficient,” said Yogi at Covid and unlock review meeting, at his official residence, with the Covid-19 and, unlock management team comprising top bureaucrats.
Yogi asked officers concerned to step-up contact tracing in Lucknow to control the infection in the state capital.
“Keep all arrangements for Covid-19 safety and treatment effective; keep Covid hospitals fully-ready and well-equipped with medicines, medical equipment, and medical oxygen.
In medical colleges and hospitals, senior faculty and senior doctors must regularly take a round of Covid wards and check on each Covid patient,” he said.
“Even a little negligence and laxity could prove very costly in Covid, and thus caution and alertness are a must at all times. Continue running campaigns to make people aware of Covid safety and precaution, social distancing and maskwearing must be adhered to and inspire people to do so,” the chief minister said.
Medical education minister Suresh Khanna and health minister Jai Pratap Singh too were present at the meeting.
