Dip in Covid count in UP, number of recovered patients in Lko above 75K

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh (UP) and state capital Lucknow reported a fall in fresh cases for a third consecutiv­e day as the Covid count reached 5,87,434 with 728 fresh cases.

The death toll reached 8387 with 8 fresh fatalities, lowest in past over 5 months, according to the officials.

On December 30 there were 1043 fresh cases in the state and on December 31 there were 971, a fall of 72 cases.

On January 01 there were 871 cases, another fall of 100 cases while on January 2 state reported cases 728, with a fall of 143 cases.

Lucknow reported 137 fresh cases. Last time it was on July 10 that Lucknow had reported 140 cases, after which a rising trend came. Kanpur reported 26 fresh cases, Prayagraj 48, Gaziabad 23, Gautam Budha Nagar 20, Meerut 55, Varanasi 45. Gorakhpur and Varanasi reported 2 deaths each, one each in Lucknow and Prayagraj.

Lucknow has till now reported 78759 cases of which 75,007 have recovered and 1114 deaths have been reported. “The recovery rate in Lucknow is 95.23%,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general associatio­n of internatio­nal doctors.

Fresh cases in Lucknow were reported from Jankipuram (10), Gomti Nagar (12), Rae Bareli road (10), Cantt (10), Aliganj (10).

Overall, 262 patients were discharged while sample of 6,499 people were taken under contact tracing.

Of the total 13,316 active cases in state 5,518 are in home isolation and 1,305 in private hospitals, while remaining were recovering in government covid facilities, said additional chief secretary medical health, Amit Mohan Prasad.

Till now total 2,42,16,483 covid samples have been tested in the state including 129111 tested in the past 24-hours. Over one crore tests have been done via RT PCR, Prasad said.

The recovery rate in the state is 96.3% while the case fatality rate is 1.428%.

“The infection is reducing but it hasn’t ended yet. “That’s why there is always the need to ensure precaution,” said Prasad.
