Yogi for extra caution in view of new coronavirus strain
Those coming to the state from countries having new strain of coronavirus should be sent to a minimum of 7-day quarantine, says chief minister
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday gave directives for maintaining strict vigil for Covid-19. He said although there was a decline in the rate of Covid-19 infection, it had not ended. He said effective arrangements should therefore continue for treatment of and protection against Covid-19 in Uttar Pradesh.
Reviewing the unlock situation at his official residence here, Yogi said there was need to maintain extra vigil in view of the new strain of coronavirus.
He said those coming to the state from countries having the new strain of coronavirus should be sent to a minimum of seven-day quarantine and be tested for infection. He laid emphasis on the need for a virology centre in the state. He said the virology centre should be developed on the pattern of the National Institute of Virology, Pune. Testing played an important role in breaking the chain of Covid-19 and the testing work should be carried out to the optimum, he said.
Yogi said King George’s Medical University was the only institute where 10 lakh tests with RTPCR method had been conducted and this was a big achievement.
The CM asked for completion of all the preparations for carrying out the Covid-19 vaccination. He said the work for maintaining effective cold chain, safe storage and smooth transportation should be carried out in accordance with the central guidelines. Regular monitoring should be done of the work being done regarding vaccination. He was informed that in the first phase the vaccination would be done at 1,500 vaccination centres and 3,000 booths.
He said all arrangements for fire safety in accordance with prescribed norms be made in all the hospitals, nursing homes and other medical institutes and such arrangements should be verified. He said information should be given to people about Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Mukhyamantri Jan Aarogya Abhiyan at the Mukhyamantri Arogya Melas being organized from January 10, 2021 and golden cards should be distributed to the beneficiaries at these melas.
