Railways to start nine pairs of trains from Jan 10

PRAYAGRAJ : The railways has decided to run nine pairs of popular trains for pilgrims and tourists coming to Sangam city to attend the upcoming Magh Mela 2021 scheduled to start from January 14.

These trains will connect cities like Lucknow, Basti, Jaunpur, Mankapur, Faizabad etc with Prayagraj and start operating from January 10 till March 15 as special trains. These trains would be called express trains, informed railway officials.

The nine pairs of trains are Ganga Gomti Express, Lucknow Inter City Express, Manwar Sangam, Saryu Express, Prayagraj-Jaunpur Express, Prayagraj-Basti special train etc.

Operations of these trains were suspended during the lockdown.

But there was a growing demand to restart the same since the country started to open up during Unlock 1.0 and its subsequent phases as they serve a massive number of commuters between the originating and culminating stations

and also the intermittent smaller rural towns.

Presently, in absence of any train services between these cities, the commuters had to rely on road transport.

“Following the long-standing demand and the upcoming Magh Mela, the Railway Board has given permission to start these nine pairs of trains.” said station superintendent of Prayag Junction, AM Pathak.

The trains which would start operating from Sunday (January 10) include 04233/04233 Prayagraj Sangam-Mankapur Saryu express, 04209/04210 Lucknow Inter City Express which would depart from Lucknow Junction at 7.35 am and reach Prayagraj Sangam station at 12 noon. In its return journey the train would leave at 3.20pm and reach state capital at 7.30pm. Likewise, train number 04215/04216 GangaGomti Express would leave Prayagraj Sangam station at 5.40 am and reach Lucknow at 10.10am. In its journey to Sangam city, the train would start at 6.10pm and reach Prayagraj Sangam station at 10.50pm.

Similarly, train number 04307/04308 Prayagraj Sangam-Bareilly, 04231/04232 Prayagraj Sangam-Basti Manwar Sangam express, 04237/04238 Prayagraj Sangam-Lucknow special, 04239/04240 Prayagraj Sangam-Faizabad special would run from January 10.

Train number 04241/04242 Prayagraj Sangam-Jaunpur special and also train number 04243/04244 Prayagraj Sangam-Jaunpur special would start to operate from January 11.
