2 detained as missing boy dies of head injuries; woman gang raped

PRAYAGRAJ: A 12-year-old boy, who went missing from his home in Parvezpur village in Mauaima area of trans-Ganga region of the district on Thursday night, was found lying critically injured in the area and was later declared dead in a hospital, police said on Friday.

The boy was identified as Adarsh, son of one Sarkesh Kumar. Suspecting murder, the police detained two persons, said SP (trans-Ganga) Dhawal Jaiswal. He further said preliminar­y investigat­ions revealed that Adarsh had gone to attend a birthday party in the village where he had a scuffle with other boys. Meanwhile, the body was sent for a post-mortem examinatio­n and the report was awaited, he added.

However, no FIR was lodged in connection with the incident when the report last came in.

Reports said Sarkesh Kumar had organised a programme at his place on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Late in the night, his son Adarsh went missing from the house. The family and villagers launched a search and found the boy lying injured near a drain with serious head injuries.

Adarsh was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Woman gangraped by two, including cop

A police constable and his associate allegedly held a woman hostage and raped her in a hotel in Prayagraj. On the complaint of the woman, Pipri police of Kaushambi lodged an FIR against them on Friday.

In her complaint, the married woman of Pipri area claimed that around a month back her neighbour took her to Prayagraj on pretext of getting her treated for her illness.

Here she was held hostage for a month by the man and a police constable posted at Sultanpur Dehat Kotwali police station. The duo gang raped her for a month before she managed to escape.

Constable Anil Kumar Verma and his aide Brajesh were booked. Circle officer Shyamkant said investigat­ions were being carried out.

Wood trader shot at in Pratapgarh

A wood trader was shot at near Chaturpur village under Antu police station of Pratapgarh district late Thursday night. The man was injured in his shoulder and was admitted to hospital. Further investigat­ions were on into the incident, police said. According to reports, Nitin

Saroj, 25, of Chaturpur was returning from his friend’s home at Khetai-ka-Pura village. He was near brick kiln near Chaturpur when unidentifi­ed bike borne assailants opened fire on him. Nitin received a bullet injury in his shoulder. Nitin was admitted to district hospital. SHO Antu police station Praveen Kushwaha carried out investigat­ions and questioned Nitin in connection with the incident. Kushwaha said that no cash has been looted from the youth which suggests that he was attacked over old enmity.

CBI raids on for Atiq’s son Umar

A team of CBI officials conducted raids in search of mafiosi turned politician Atiq Ahmad’s son Umar who is an accused in abduction and torture of a Lucknow based realtor at Deoria Jail.

A team of CBI officials reached Prayagraj after receiving informatio­n that Umar has taken shelter at his maternal uncle’s house. Accompanie­d by Dhumnaganj police, CBI sleuths carried out raids at Chakia area. After demolition of Atiq’s house , his family has taken shelter at the same house.

CBI officials questioned Atiq’s relative about Umar after failing to find him there.
