‘Vaccination will change the fight against the virus’
LUCKNOW : Prof Surya Kant, HoD, respiratory medicine at the King George’s Medical University (KGMU) will take the jab along with 99 others, when the Covid vaccination drive begins on Saturday while Dr MMA Faridi will be among the first few to get the vaccine shot at Era’s Medical College.
“The Covid vaccine rollout is a step towards saving lives and it’s good to be a part of it,” said Dr Surya Kant, who will also be recording a public message after the vaccination.
“It’s a safe vaccine and I will be the first one to get the shot. The vaccine is the greatest gift to people from science in the 21st century as it saves them from diseases at minimum cost,” said Dr MMA Faridi, principal of Era’s Medical College.
The vaccination will be conducted at 12 places in Lucknow on Saturday and the list of health staff to be vaccinated includes doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, ward boys and cleaning staff. “My name was on top of the list of vaccination beneficiaries. I am excited for the vaccination as it will save me from the disease,” said Ramola, cleaning staff at Balrampur Hospital.
“Our list of 100 beneficiaries is ready and all preparations have been done,” said Prof AK Singh, director of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS).
“The vaccination will change the fight against the virus. We shall soon be able to control its spread completely,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors.
“I am happy to see my name on top of the list. The vaccine has reached us after clinical trials and we should be thankful to the scientists for it,” said Dr Sudha Verma, chief medical superintendent, Dufferin Hospital.
