Attack on Jalkal GM: Gangster Act slapped against six persons

-

PRAYAGRAJ: The Khuldabad police slapped the Gangster Act against six accused allegedly involved in an assault on water works department general manager Harishchandra Valmiki around a month back, on Tuesday. The accused included a corporator and a former employee of the same department.

Khuldabad SHO Virendra Kumar Singh said the Gangster Act has been imposed on corporator Vinod Sonkar, former employee Anoop Srivastava, Ajay Hela, Tufail Ahmad, Guddu Vishwakarma and another person.

The accused had barged inside the official residence of GM Harishchandra Valmiki on December 25 night, last year, and had assaulted him with sticks and rods, resulting in serious injuries to the official.

Police claimed that the accused were angry with the official for various reasons, including issuing contracts.

The accused have a criminal record and police will now tighten the noose around them.

Meanwhile, in a bid to ensure better security of the water works general manager and other officials and employees, the office of the circle officer (first) is being constructed on the water works department office premises.

The step has been taken after the recent attack on GM Valmiki, who was also attacked around a year ago on the same premises. The room is now being turned into the circle officer’s office and the CO will permanently be available in the office on the water works office premises.
