‘Covid cases declining but can’t lower guard as yet’

LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said there was a significan­t decline in the rate of Covid-19 infection but there was no need to lower the guard as the virus was still active.

Claiming that coronaviru­s could be contained due to efforts made to check the spread of virus, the CM directed the officials to ensure that measures for protection against Covid-19 and its treatment should effectivel­y remain up to the mark in Uttar Pradesh. Yogi was reviewing the Covid-19 situation at a high-level meeting at his residence here.

He said the state government was committed towards providing better healthcare facilities to the people of the state.

He said the state government’s consistent efforts towards strengthen­ing the health infrastruc­ture were mainly responsibl­e for efficient handling of Covid-19 situation.

Yogi said the ICU facilities, strengthen­ed testing, ventilator­s and other medical equipment had played an important role in containing the Covid-19.

He said the focus on testing played an important role in breaking the chain of Covid-19.

He also directed that contact tracing and surveillan­ce work should be actively pursued and adequate availabili­ty and backup of medicines, medical equipment and oxygen should be maintained in all the government hospitals. He said integrated command and control centres should run actively. He said district magistrate­s and chief medical officers should hold their morning meeting at a Covid hospital and the evening meetings at the integrated command and control centre to keep an eye on the situation. He said people should be consistent­ly educated about the measures for protection against Covid-19.
