3,121 health workers take the jab in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ: A total of 3,121 health workers (62.42 per cent of the first day target of 5000) were administered the Covid vaccine at 23 vaccination centres in the district on the first day of the second round of phase-1 of vaccination (January 22, 28 and 29) on Friday, officials said. Around 13,500 health workers of Prayagraj are to be vaccinated during the three-day exercise in the district.
“These 23 vaccination centres, including 11 in rural areas and 12 in urban areas, held 50 vaccination sessions from 9am and 5pm,” said chief medical officer (CMO), Prayagraj Dr Prabhakar Rai.
In urban areas, the vaccination exercise was undertaken at government’s SRN Hospital, MLN Medical College, Tej Bahadur Sapru (Beli) Hospital, Motilal Nehru (Colvin) Divisional Hospital, Manohar Das Eye Hospital, Dufferin Hospital, TB Hospital and Railway Hospital besides trust-run Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital, Nazareth Hospital, Jagriti Hospital and Vatsalya Hospital, he added. Dr Rai said 11 rural centres included community health centres (CHCs) of Baharia, Phulpur, Pratappur, Mauaima, Soraon, Holagarh, Kotwa, Saidabad, Handia, Dhanupur and Kaurihar.
MLN Medical College principal Dr SP Singh received the first jab of the second round of vaccination at MLNMC vaccination centre. After getting vaccinated at 9:15am, he said it was a privilege that he and others were part of the campaign. He also appealed to others to get corona vaccine as soon as their turn came. “Everyone’s participation is necessary to defeat Covid,” he added.
At Tej Bahadur Sapru (Beli) Hospital, the first vaccine was administered to CMO Prabhakar Rai at 9.07 am. After getting the vaccine, he said people should take part in the ongoing vaccination drive to get protection against the corona virus. Rai had contracted the virus in August last year while serving at Sultanpur but he beat it.
Dr Rahul Singh, district Covid-19 vaccination nodal officer, said the vaccination sessions were conducted smoothly and no beneficiary reported any major side effects. He said at MLN Medical College, three vaccination sessions witnessed a total 263 individuals (81.93 per cent) against targeted 321 getting vaccinated while at Manohar Das Eye Hospital, 85 individuals against set target of 100 amounting to 85 per cent were vaccinated.
At Dufferin Hospital, 153 persons against the set target of 200 in two sessions were vaccinated amounting to 76.5 per cent. Similarly, Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital in two sessions saw vaccine being administered to 163 persons against the target of 215 amounting to 75.81 per cent while SRN Hospital saw vaccination of 77 persons against set target of 100 (77 per cent).
