UP COVID COUNT CROSSES 6 LAKH MARK, DEATH TOLL OVER 8,000

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Covid count crossed 6 lakh mark on Saturday, 334 days after it reported the first coronaviru­s case on March 2. The state reported 247 fresh Covid cases taking the tally to 600079 while the death toll reached 8650 with four fresh fatalities.

Uttar Pradesh reported its first case on March 2, crossed one lakh mark on August 4 (100310 cases), and second lakh mark on August 26 (203028 cases). On September 12, the state Covid tally reached 305831, and on October 1, the state crossed 4-lakh mark, while 5-lakh mark was crossed on November 10.

This comes to roughly 1796 cases per day in the state.

Of the total cases, the number of recovered patients is 585747 and number of active cases is 5682. The recovery rate in the state is 97.61%, according to the health department. Till now, the state has tested 27769217 Covid samples. Among the active cases, 1556 are in home isolation.

Lucknow reported 35 cases, Kanpur 11, Prayagraj and Ghaziabad 8, Gautam Buddha Nagar 8, Meerut 10, Varanasi 10. Lucknow reported 2 deaths, Prayagraj and Agra one each.

Lucknow has till now reported 81351 cases of which 78985 have recovered. “The recovery rate in Lucknow is 97.09%,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary-general associatio­n of the internatio­nal doctors.

Fresh cases in Lucknow were reported from Gomti Nagar 4, Indira Nagar 6, Cantt 3. IN all 46 patients were discharged while samples of 6045 people were taken for Covid test.
