VIRTUAL CARPET EXPO GETS GREAT RESPONSE FROM OVERSEAS BUYERS

VARANASI : The ongoing third virtual edition of five-day 41st India Carpet Expo, an exclusive trade fair for handmade carpets and other floor-coverings, has received overwhelmi­ng response from overseas buyers.

“The carpet expo has received a very good response from around 206 overseas buyers from 50 countries and 65 buying representa­tives/ buying houses from across the world in first three days of the expo which started on January 27,” executive director, Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), Sanjay Kumar said.

“The expo has participat­ion of 150+ prominent member-exporters from major carpet belt of Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Agra, Jaipur, Panipat, Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

He said the expo will remain open for business till January 31. The expo received great response from the USA, Australia, the UK, Canada, and Italy, Kumar added.

Chairman, CEPC, Siddh Nath Singh said it was the start of a new era which opened global business opportunit­ies for the handmade carpet industry with the use of new technology.

“India carpet expo is providing tremendous business opportunit­ies for participat­ing manufactur­ers and exporters as prominent overseas handmade carpet buyers from all over the world are taking part in it,” Singh said.

Singh also conveyed his thanks to Sooraj Dhawan of M/s Falcon Exhibition­s Pvt Ltd and his entire team for providing 24X7 technical support to all participan­ts. He said for the second time, the council organised “Design Awards – 2021” in the expo on Friday through videoconfe­rencing. Singh thanked the jury members for sparing their valuable time and support.

Singh said that the basic idea behind institutin­g “Design Awards – 2021” was to appreciate and recognise the hard work of participan­ts especially the younger generation.
