LUCKNOW: The Economic Survey of India 2020-21 has praised the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh for successfully managing to restrict the spread of the Covid-19 infection cases, the state government said in a statement.

The Central government released the Economic Survey on Friday.

The statement said that the survey also mentioned that the instant decision of lockdown taken by Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath amid the pandemic was one of the major reasons that was found effective in controlling the spread of the coronavirus infection across the state.

The survey stated, “Uttar Pradesh has much lower cases than what is naturally expected. State like Uttar Pradesh (with a density of 690 persons per square kilometre) has managed the pandemic well. This ultimately held India in good stead.”

Also lauding the central government, the cross-country analysis mentioned in the Economic Survey stated, “India has been able to effectively manage both the spread of Covid-19 and the fatalities, with 37.1 lakh fewer cases than what was estimated, vis-à-vis the actual cases in the US being more than the estimated cases by 62.5 lakh cases.”

It is not the first time that Uttar Pradesh has won appreciation for Covid management. Earlier, the World Health Organisation (WHO) had showered praise on chief minister Yogi Adityanath and his government for the Covid-19 management strategy, especially in tracking high-risk contacts, that helped in gaining control over the coronavirus pandemic, said the statement.
