KMC LANGUAGE UNIVERSITY TO START FOREIGN LANGUAGE COURSES

LUCKNOW: Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (KMC) Language University, Lucknow, has approved the proposal moved by its department of English to start French, German, Korean and Japanese language courses. Besides, approval was also given to start M Ed and postgradua­te courses in economics. These decisions were taken at the academic council meeting of the university held recently.

With the aim of drawing more students towards foreign languages, vice chancellor prof Vinay Kumar Pathak has suggested organising foreign film festival at the university. “It was also decided to form a committee for all the financed courses of the university which will bring uniformity while running these programmes,” said Tanu Dang, media incharge of the language university.

During the meeting, the vice chancellor emphasised that all the courses needed to be changed as per the new education policy and all the faculties should work on it. He also suggested to prepare a white paper on the new education policy and its responsibi­lity was given to head of Urdu department prof SS Ashrafi.

“It was decided to compulsori­ly conduct PhDs in full-time mode. It was also decided to prepare a bridge course to promote interdisci­plinary learning,” the vice chancellor said. The university had also decided to start “poor boys’ fund” so that the students coming from poor background can be helped. A decision to this effect was taken at a finance committee meeting of the university held recently.

“We are determined to protect the interests of poor students as their livelihood depends on the meagre income of their family,” said Pathak. It was also decided to set up teachers’ welfare fund and the responsibi­lity of preparing its proposal was given to dean, student welfare, prof Syed Hyder Ali, the VC said.
