AGRA : In yet another case over Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, a ‘sevayat’

(priest) Pawan Kumar Shastri at Mandir Keshav Dev has filed a suit seeking transfer of the 13.37-acre land to the deity.

“This case was filed on February 2 against the UP Sunni Central Waqf Board, management committee Shahi Masjid Idgah, Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust and Sri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan,” informed RS Bhardwaj, counsel for petitioner Pawan Kumar Shastri.

“The case was filed in the court of civil judge (senior division) in Mathura and Thursday was fixed for hearing but the presiding officer was on leave so the case was heard by link officer, additional district judge (sixth) and February 6 fixed for next hearing,” said Bhardwaj.

“The petitioner is Pawan Kumar Shastri, a ‘sevayat’ (serving priest) whose turn comes once after 24 days at Katra Keshav Dev temple. We argued today on maintainability of case and the court might pass order on the next date,” said Bhardwaj.

This is the fourth petition over Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi issue in Mathura. These petitions are filed on behalf of the deity (Lord Krishna), seeking removal of the Shahi Eidgah (mosque) adjacent to the Shri Krishna temple complex in Mathura and transfer of 13.37-acre land to the deity.

Petitioners in these cases have challenged the settlement dated October 12, 1968 between Sri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sangh and Shahi Masjid Idgah, which was part of suit no. 43 of 1967 alleging that it had got no legal validity because the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust, having ownership and title, was not party to the settlement.

First of all, a lawyer Ranjana Agnihotri had filed a petition as next friend to Sri Krishna Virajman, the deity.

The revision is pending in the court of the district judge, Mathura.

Thereafter, Manish Yadav, claiming to be a descendent of Lord Krishna, filed a petition and this was followed by another case (no. 950 of 2020) filed on behalf of Bhagwan Keshav Dev (Lord Krishna).
