3,868 more get vaccine jabs
PRAYAGRAJ : Against the target to vaccinate 5,399 individuals, only 3,868 (71.64%) could be administered Covid vaccines in the sixth round of phase one and first round of phase two of the vaccination campaign both of which took place here on Friday.
Those inoculated included frontline workers and those health workers who could not be given the vaccine in phase one.
“Around 74% of the health workers numbering around 2502 under phase-1 and around 67% of frontline workers under phase-2 were administered the vaccine,” said Dr Rishi Sahai, ACMO (immunisation) overseeing the Covid-19 vaccination exercise under Prayagraj CMO Dr Prabhakar Rai. For the task, 38 vaccination centres – 24 in urban areas and 14 in rural areas of district– were set up. Between them, they undertook 53 vaccination sessions, said CMO.
Phase two witnessed senior district administration and police officials leading the exercise from the front. Those who got themselves vaccinated included DM Bhanu Chandra Goswami, IG range KP Singh, CDO Ashish Kumar, ADM (city) AK Kanaujiya and SDM (Sadar) Ajay Narayan Singh among others. Around 23,163 employees of various departments have so far been identified for vaccination in the second phase in Prayagraj. The vaccination exercise under phase two that formally started from Friday will now take place on February 11, 12 and February 18.
“Those who get left behind on these three days will be administered the vaccine in February 22, the reserve day,” said Rai. He said the 23,163 individuals who are to be vaccinated in the phase two will include 17,333 persons working for the defence services, police, CRPF, RAF, PAC and other security forces as well.
