Woman’s murder case cracked; boyfriend held

PRAYAGRAJ: Pratapgarh police on Friday cracked the murder case of a young woman whose body was found at Surva Mishrapur village on January 23. Police arrested the man who was allegedly having an affair with her, police officials said.

According to reports, body of Amar Bahadur Patel’s daughter Sunita Patel, 20, was found in the fields around 300 meters from her home in the morning on January 23. Postmortem examinatio­n revealed that Sunita died of bullet injuries in her head. Her kin did not raise suspicion on anyone following which an FIR was lodged against unidentifi­ed assailants. Sunita’s kin also claimed that she did not use to carry mobile phone. However, police team found a mobile charger at pumping set of Amar Bahadur Patel on which sticker of a shop in Phulpur area of Prayagraj was found pasted on which a mobile number was also written. The mobile number was traced to be of one Mahendra Patel of Bhujaini village.

SHO of Fatanpur police station Ganesh Prasad Singh said Mahendra was questioned in connection with the murder following which he confessed to have killed Sunita. He informed police that he came in contact with Sunita several years back. He also gave a mobile and SIM card to Sunita. However, Sunita started demanding cash from Mahendra frequently. In the night on January 22, Sunita demanded Rs 5,000 from Mahendra and was angry when he refused and tried to return home. Mahendra, in a fit of rage, shot her dead and also took her mobile away. The firearm used in the crime has also been recovered, SHO added.

Case registered in connection with missing minor

PRAYAGRAJ: Manjhanpur police of Kaushambi have lodged an FIR against three persons in connection with the disappeara­nce of a minor girl three years back. Case has been registered for abduction and murder of the girl on the instructio­ns of the court, police said on Friday. According to reports, a resident of Malian Ka Purwa village, Sahiduniss­a went missing from district hospital. Her kin alleged that she was abducted by one Pappu and his two aides. Her father Maqbool Ahmad approached police with his complaint but to no avail following which he approached the court.
