Military, Special Bureau staff to get Covishield, others to get Covaxin jabs

The armed forces (Army, IAF and Navy) personnel across the state will be given Covishield vaccine while other frontline workers, including police, CRPF and RAF personnel, as well as other government department­s, will get Covaxin jabs, officials said. The exercise is set to take place on February 11, as part of the second session of the ongoing Phase-2 of the corona vaccinatio­n.

The state government has begun supplying both the vaccines division-wise to all districts to health department officials concerned with specific orders in this regard for the February 11 vaccinatio­n, officials said.

The director-general, family welfare, in a missive sent to all divisional additional directors (medical, health and family welfare) in his missive dated February 4, citing an order dated February 3 from the Centre, has instructed to arrange for collection of the vaccines as per their quota of allocation from Family Welfare Directorat­e, Lucknow, said Rishi Sahai, ACMO (immunisati­on) overseeing the Covid-19 vaccinatio­n exercise in Prayagraj. In all 18 divisions, a total of 3,01,080 doses of Covishield are being provided for the armed forces personnel and another 2,720 doses for members of the Special Bureau, while 4,97,300 doses of Covaxin are being provided for frontline workers of the state, the officials said.

According to the list, 43,930 doses of Covishield are being provided for armed forces personnel of Agra division, 15,190 doses of Prayagraj division, 26,220 doses for Bareilly division, 39,170 for Jhansi division, 4,500 doses for Ayodhya division besides 4,740 doses of Covishield are being provided for armed forces personnel of Gorakhpur division, 27,900 doses for Kanpur division, 41,820 doses for Lucknow division, 92,100 doses for Meerut Division, 5,280 doses for Saharanpur and Sarsawa and 230 for Varanasi division, they added. As for Special Bureau personnel, 220 doses of Covishield are being provided to Lucknow and 2,500 to Saharanpur and Sarsawa. Likewise, 33,980 doses of Covaxin for frontline workers are being provided to Agra Division, 21,880 doses to Aligarh Division, 31,200 doses to Prayagraj division, 27,200 doses to Bareilly division, 15,900 doses to Jhansi division, 10,980 doses to Banda division, 25,480 doses to Ayodhya division, 18,660 doses to Gonda division, 16,480 doses to Azamgarh division, 24,700 doses to Gorakhpur division, 12,900 doses to Basti division, 37,860 doses to Kanpur division, 70,760 doses to Lucknow division, 55,840 doses to Meerut division, 15,540 doses to Saharanpur and Sarsawa, 32,800 doses to Moradabad division, 14,200 doses to Mirzapur division and 30,940 doses to Varanasi division.

Prayagraj district health officials plan to administer the Covid-19 vaccines to around 27,000 frontline workers as part of the Phase-2 exercise including around 17,000 personnel of Army, IAF, police and CRPF besides other paramilita­ry forces as well 1,500 employees of revenue department and 4,500 staff of municipal corporatio­n, said Sahai.
