Khalistani sympathiser’s links with UP-based arms dealers under probe
LUCKNOW : The role of some UP-based firearms dealers was suspected in the supply of ammo to Punjab-based proKhalistan groups, said police Tuesday, after the arrest of Khalistani sympathiser, Jagdeo Singh, alias ‘Jagga’ from Lucknow on Monday.
Jagga was said to be the closest aide of two Khalistani terrorists – Parmeet Singh and Maltani Singh – who were funding the Khalistani movement in India while living in England and Germany.
Jagga’s custody was given to the Punjab police, but the cops were investigating his links with UP-based firearms dealers as earlier others were arrested from different districts of the state for allegedly supplying firearms to Khalistani terror groups, said a UP police official.
Raids were carried out in different districts of UP to trace Khalistani sympathizers, he added.
“Initial investigation has revealed that Jagga arranged 800 firearms from Madhya Pradesh through different firearms dealers, including two from Uttar Pradesh, in the past few years,” said another senior official of Lucknow police.
He said one Raj Singh and Asif, residents of Shamli district, were arrested on November 23, 2019 for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to Khalistani terror groups. These accused had assured the terror groups about the delivery of hand grenades, pistols and cartridges.
“On June 7, 2020, another UP-based notorious arms supplier, Javed, was arrested from Hapud for his association with Khalistan Liberation Front leaders. Javed had allegedly supplied over 80 pistols to KLF members and was also allegedly involved in supplying firearms for the killing of RSS leader Brigadier (retired) Jagdish Kumar Gagneja in Punjab in August 2016,” the official stated.
