REGULATE SALE OF OXYTOCIN INJECTIONS: CS DIRECTS OFFICIALS

LUCKNOW : Pointing out that use of oxytocin in dairy animals to induce milk let down was a cruel practice, said chief secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari on Tuesday. He directed the officials to ensure that medical stores sold these injections only on the registered doctor’s prescripti­on.

Addressing a meeting with the animal husbandry department officials, he said oxytocin, as a medicine belonged to the Schedule H-1 category and its administra­tion to animals, was a penal offence.

“It should be ensured that medical stores not only have all relevant documents to sell oxytocin injections but also, sell them only on registered doctors’ prescripti­ons,” he stressed to officials asking them to take tough action against those found violating the law.

Earlier, principal secretary, animal husbandry, Bhuvnesh Kumar made a presentati­on proposed policy-2020 seeking study on the harmful impact of the use of oxytocin in animals and unauthoriz­ed use of sale of oxytocin injections.

‘Each district must have its own job plan’

Presiding over another meeting of the job commission here, the chief secretary asked officials to see to it that the district employment committees set up under the Mission Rojgar necessaril­y held their weekly meetings with each district having its own job plan by next week.

It was told in the meeting that as many as 83,826 unemployed applicants had been helped to get employment through 694 job fairs till January 2021 besides providing career counsellin­g to 1,35,471 candidates.
