Government to use barren land for industrial purpose
LUCKNOW : The state government has decided to use barren land to set up industrial units. The government will include these barren pieces of land in its pool of land bank for allotment to entrepreneurs.
In a report submitted to the state government, UP State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has identified 1483.75-acre barren land in four districts that could be used for industrial purpose. These districts are Gonda, Hamirpur, Chitrakoot and Mirzapur. The government is now planning to acquire the barren land in these districts. Besides, around 490-acre barren land has also been identified in Auraiya district.
“The government is identifying barren land for industrial use. This could be a good use of barren land,” said Pankaj Kumar, national president, Indian Industries Association (IIA).
The state government has sent a list of barren pieces of land to the industrial development department with instructions to identify such land from this list that could be used for industrial purpose.
The government has also instructed all district magistrates to identify and acquire such barren land in their respective districts.
The industrial development department had asked UP State Industrial Development Authority and other industrial development authorities to carry out survey of barren land in their areas.
The government has also instructed UPSIDA to contact district magistrates where barren land is to be acquired and submit the report.
