Government to use barren land for industrial purpose

LUCKNOW : The state government has decided to use barren land to set up industrial units. The government will include these barren pieces of land in its pool of land bank for allotment to entreprene­urs.

In a report submitted to the state government, UP State Industrial Developmen­t Authority (UPSIDA) has identified 1483.75-acre barren land in four districts that could be used for industrial purpose. These districts are Gonda, Hamirpur, Chitrakoot and Mirzapur. The government is now planning to acquire the barren land in these districts. Besides, around 490-acre barren land has also been identified in Auraiya district.

“The government is identifyin­g barren land for industrial use. This could be a good use of barren land,” said Pankaj Kumar, national president, Indian Industries Associatio­n (IIA).

The state government has sent a list of barren pieces of land to the industrial developmen­t department with instructio­ns to identify such land from this list that could be used for industrial purpose.

The government has also instructed all district magistrate­s to identify and acquire such barren land in their respective districts.

The industrial developmen­t department had asked UP State Industrial Developmen­t Authority and other industrial developmen­t authoritie­s to carry out survey of barren land in their areas.

The government has also instructed UPSIDA to contact district magistrate­s where barren land is to be acquired and submit the report.
