LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday came down heavily on “some vested political entities” who, according to him, never wanted the welfare of farmers, but misguided them to gain undue political advantage.

“They are the ones who are creating anarchy in the society while farmers and the labour classes were never on their agenda,” he alleged, while asserting that “the basis of a happy society is the happiness of farmers”.

The chief minister, who attended the wedding ceremony of 2,754 daughters of construction labourers in Moradabad on Monday, said that his government had helped the migrant labourers during the Covid-19 pandemic, when every other government dumped them.

It had been among the priorities of his government to provide migrant workers free ration, shelter and jobs, he said.

The chief minister blessed the newly wed couples at a function organised by the labour department. As a gift to the brass city of Moradabad, he also inaugurated and laid the foundation of 48 projects worth about Rs 183 crore. These included drinking water, basic education and building construction projects.

Reiterating his government’s commitment to the welfare of farmers and labourers, he said, “My government ensured har khet mein paani: har thal mein bhojan (Water in every field and food on every platter).”

Yogi Adityanath said the government had already transferred money into the accounts of about 12 lakh farmers, besides providing agriculture and irrigation facilities to them.

“I can say with full satisfaction that my government has brought smiles on the faces of farmers and the poor by providing them with about 40 lakh houses,” he said.

He chose the occasion to remind the people that the success of any work depended on team effort and collective wisdom. Good governance of his government had been based on this principle, he said.

The chief minister said most of the poor families of the state had benefited from the government’s welfare schemes which were implemented without discrimination on the basis of caste, religion or regionalism.

Recalling the “commendable” Covid management done by his government, the chief minister said it was primarily due to dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whose balanced approach and timely steps helped tide over the pandemic in a manner, which even the United States and European countries could not do.

He said the Kanya Sumangala Yojana of the social welfare department, aimed at self-reliance and dignity of the girls, had been a great success and the government arranged marriages of over 1.25 lakh poor women in two years.

Under this scheme, a financial package of Rs 15,000 is given to each beneficiary.

Under the “Samuhik Vivah” (mass marriage) scheme of the labour department, Rs 65,000 is given at the time of marriage of the daughters of labourers while Rs 51,000 is provided to other poor women. The social welfare department provides an additional Rs 20,000.
