Delhi parents demand coaching on lines of Abhyudaya scheme
LUCKNOW: The Delhi Parents Association (DPA) has made a representation to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to start free coaching classes on the lines of the Abhyudaya scheme launched by the UP government in 18 divisional headquarters across the state.
The UP government had launched the scheme in 18 divisional headquarters across the state to help prepare students for various competitive examinations. Classes under the scheme began formally on Tuesday on the occasion of Basant Panchami.
In a two-page letter to Kejriwal, DPA chief, Aparajita Gautam listed several benefits of the Abhyudaya scheme which is not meant for any particular caste, class or religion. She appealed to Kejriwal to launch a scheme that prepares students of all classes for civil services and other competitive exams free of cost.
She said, “Under Abhyudaya free coaching, UP students are to get lessons from 500 IAS officers, 450 PCS officers and others who will shape the future of UP students preparing for civil service examinations.”
According to the DPA chief, a large number of poor students cannot afford expensive coachings for preparation to appear in JEE, NEET and a host of other competitive exams. Abhyuday coaching will be of great help to students in Delhi, if the scheme can be replicated in the national capital as well.
Under the Abhyudaya Scheme, the state government will use universities, colleges, engineering colleges, or other institutes in all districts of the state, in which free coaching is being conducted. “Physically, 50 to 100 students will be able to take advantage of this, while the government aims to connect one crore youth with the scheme through virtual means. The Delhi government should replicate this model,” said Ggautam.
Launching the scheme on Monday, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath had said that Abhyudaya Yojana is a scheme dedicated to the youth of the state who will be able to showcase their talent in the country and the world through the scheme.
