No external or pre-death injury: DGP

LUCKNOW : Director general of police (DGP) HC Awasthy said no external or pre-death injury was detected in the post-mortem of two deceased girls. He said out of three girls found in a field in an Unnao village under Asoha police station on limits Wednesday evening, two were found dead while the third girl was unconsciou­s and currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kanpur.

He said the doctors

have termed it (the third case) as a suspected case of poisoning. But the doctors have mentioned that reason of the death of the two girls could not be ascertaine­d in the post-mortem report.

On the possibilit­y of sexual assault, the DGP said the doctors found no external or internal injuries on the girls’ bodies. He said there was no mention of sexual assault in the medical examinatio­n reports.

He said that the third girl, who was unconsciou­s, had been shifted to a private hospital in Kanpur for better treatment in view of her condition. He said the state government authoritie­s had already directed to ensure the best possible treatment of the girl.

He added that the six police teams had been formed to probe the whole incident and senior officers were personally supervisin­g the investigat­ion.

On being asked whether the Unnao girls were sexually assaulted, UP director general of police HC Awasthy said the doctors had found no external or internal injuries on the girls’ bodies. He said there was no mention of sexual assault in the medical examinatio­n reports.
