LUCKNOW : The state capital saw 86% of the beneficiaries turning up to take the vaccine shots during the 10th round of Covid vaccination drive here on Thursday.

This was the highest percentage in all the rounds so far since January 16. Of the listed 10,428 frontline workers (FLW), 8,981 took the jabs.

“A total of 1,477 beneficiaries were inoculated against a list of 15,000 at 14 booths at one of the vaccination centres at signature building (state police headquarters),” said Dr MK Singh, in-charge of vaccination in Lucknow.

“As part of efforts to ensure better vaccination percentage, SMSes were sent to beneficiaries in advance and phone calls were also made to almost all of them by the health department. Offices where the beneficiaries worked were also asked to motivate staff/beneficiaries to take the vaccine shot,” said Singh.

No adverse effects were reported after the vaccination while there was no wastage of vaccine vial in Lucknow, he added.

Lucknow had recorded the lowest turnout among FLWs on February 11. Of the targeted 12,234 beneficiaries, only 2,990 (24.44%) took the jab.

On Friday, the second dose will be given to health workers who got their first dose on January 22.

A mop-up round will be conducted for health workers who were yet to be vaccinated while a mop-up round was planned on Monday for FLWs who were yet to be vaccinated.

So far, Lucknow has called 1,06,631 people for vaccination. Of these, 59,526 (55.82%) have taken the shot, including the second dose.
