Village remains centre of intense politics

THE BHIM ARMY MEMBERS OUTSHONE THE BSP LEADERS WHO LEFT BY THE MIDDLE OF DAY

UNNAO: Throughout the day, Baburaha village of less than 1,000 people was the centre of intense politics, with politician­s and their supporters pouring in and building pressure on the officials.

The Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Bhim Army leaders sat in groups in different corners of the village.

The Bhim Army members outshone the BSP leaders who left by the middle of the day. They leaders cried with the family members, demanding a government job, Rs 50 lakh and a house to each of the three families. By the evening, the Bhim Army members were bundled into jeeps and sent beyond the borders of Unnao district, said Aniket Dhanuk who alleged the police were pressing the families to give in to their wishes of burying the bodies.

The SP sent a delegation led by former MP Annu Tandon and ex-MLC Sunil Singh Sajan to meet the family. Tandon said the accused should be arrested at the earliest and the case should be solved in the most transparen­t manner. The SP leaders joined the family members in their dharna and asked the officials to respect the kin’s wishes.

Congress city president Subhash Singh, Manoj Tiwari, Anwar Khurshid and Dinesh Shukla also met the family members. Tiwari connected the girls’ family members to UPCC president Ajay Lallu who assured all help, security and bearing the treatment cost.

BSP MLA Anil Singh who now supports the BJP, remained in the village from morning to night. Singh hasn’t left the village and his supporters who were speaking to the family members one by one.

With politician­s converging at the scene, the Unnao administra­tion got additional police force from Lucknow and Rae Bareli to help maintain law and order.
