AGRA: Vice president of Rashtriya Lok Dal Jayant Chaudhary claimed on Thursday that farmers were presently fighting the farm laws to save their land. He also targeted the central government for prices of petrol going above Rs. 100 per litre. Jayant was addressing a ‘panchayat’ organized in Mogarra town of Mathura district on Thursday.

According to Jayant Chaudhary, the farmer has a big heart for nation and happily sends his sons to safeguard the nation’s borders despite risks involved. In such a scenario it is unjustified to call farmers as nuisance makers or as Khalistani, he said

“Chaudhary Charan Singh had stated once that route to nation’s prosperity goes through farm and farmer’s land but the present government is targeting the same farmers and trying to divide them like the Britishs. The present government is terming it as agitation of one segment of the community but it is wrong,” he said. ’.

“Farmers are becoming united to protect their interest and this is giving sleepless nights to BJP leaders who are being boycotted for their antifarmer intent. This is a long fight and thus farmers should remain united and compel the BJP government to withdraw the black farm laws at the earliest,” he said.

“How can the concept of New India be visualized by suppressing the sentiments of 80 % of the population and what type of progress it would be,” questioned the RLD leader.

“The farmers’ agitation is not confined to a state or two but has become a nationwide stir and panchayats are being held everywhere. The government should desist from arresting youths raising their voice and avoid sending notices to farmers,” he said.

Jayant Chaudhary asked the government to withdraw the three black farm laws and bring a law on Minimum Support Price (MSP).
