Lko to get institute of virology, advanced diabetes care centre

Provision of ₹100 cr made for establishm­ent of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University on Sultanpur road in Lko

LUCKNOW : The state capital will get an Institute of Virology and Infectious Diseases, an advanced diabetes care centre at SGPGIMS, an advanced informatio­n technology complex near the airport, a tribal museum and a lot more.

The state government on Monday made budgetary allocation­s for a number of projects for Lucknow announced by the Yogi Adityanath government in the recent past.

A provision of Rs 100 crore was made for the establishm­ent of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow, said Suresh Khanna, UP finance minister. The proposed medical university (with a hospital) is coming up at the Chak Ganjaria area on Sultanpur road.

Lucknow will soon get bio safety level - 4 lab under the Institute of Virology and Infectious Diseases in Lucknow. The institute will help study viral and bacterial diseases troubling people in the region and also conduct high-end tests required for patients quickly.

It will be for the first time that such an institute is coming up in the state. At present, there are BSL labs at KGMU that conduct tests.

“The state government has also decided to establish an advanced diabetes centre at the SGPGIMS. The project found mention in the UP budget,” said RK Dhiman, director, SGPGIMS.

He said, “The two-floor advanced centre for treatment of diabetes and related ailments will provide all facilities related to diabetes care under one roof.

The DPR for the project has already been passed. The centre will have a dedicated staff to treat patients.”

An advanced informatio­n technology complex has been proposed in 40 acres area at Nadarganj near Lucknow Airport. Its constructi­on will be based on PPP model. There is also a proposal of Rs 8 crore for the constructi­on of Uttar Pradesh Tribal Museum in Lucknow.

A provision of Rs 2,000 crore has been made under the Smart City Scheme in 10 cities of the state, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Agra, Saharanpur, Bareilly, Jhansi, Moradabad and Aligarh.

Besides, the budget provides Rs 50 crore for the constructi­on of Rashtriya Prerna Sthal in Lucknow.

The prerna sthal will come up on an area of about 82 acres in Vasantkunj on Hardoi Road. The prerna sthal, blueprint of which is ready, will have statues of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee to inspire youths “to work for the country,” said an official of Lucknow Developmen­t Authority (LDA).
