PRAYAGRAJ: A letter petition has been sent to the chief justice (CJ) of the Allahabad high court demanding a CBI probe into the alleged murder of two minor girls and the critical condition of the third in Baburaha village under Asoha police in Unnao district.

In the letter petition, sent by one Nilim Dutta, chairman of Unified People’s Movement, it has been stated that it does not inspire any confidence that the

Unnao police would do justice in this present case.

In this backdrop, the petitioner has requested the court to take cognizance of the matter and bring under its supervision the investigation of the case and to hand it over to central bureau of investigation.

Besides, the petitioner has also requested the court to direct the UP government to shift the lone minor survivor, who is critical, to AIIMS, New Delhi, by an air ambulance with a team of specialist doctors.

The three dalit girls aged 13, 16 and 17 were found unconscious in a field near their home in Unnao district by family members on February 17. Two of them died soon after, and the third, who is 16, is in a critical condition in a Kanpur hospital.

The Unnao police had registered a case under Sections 302 (murder) and 201(causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen offender) of the Indian Penal Code on February 18. On February 19, two men were arrested for allegedly poisoning the girls.
