FOUR WORKERS ENGAGED IN CONSTRUCTION AT LA MARTINIERE TEST POSITIVE

-

LUCKNOW : Four daily wagers engaged in construction work at La Martiniere College tested Covid positive on Wednesday, which left many parents worried. Samples of these workers were collected during a random survey by the health department on Tuesday.

But no students, teachers or office staff tested positive, said Carlyle McFarland, principal of the college.

“Six people have tested positive. These include two children of workers in Martin Purva quarters and four daily-wagers engaged in construction activity. They tested positive in the antigen test on Tuesday. The four daily wagers are residents of Aashiana colony,” he said.

He added, “This was at an impromptu camp set up outside the college. More than 300 workers, staff and pupils were tested. The RT-PCR test reports are awaited.”

Sanjay Bhatnagar, CMO (Lucknow) and senior health department officials were present at the testing site, said McFarland.

The samples were collected under the 15-day drive being conducted in the state capital for random sampling of various sectors such as street vendors, bus and railway stations, public transport drivers and school staff.

The health department team also carried out RT-PCR tests of the principal, students and all teachers, said officials.

“Two persons found Covid positive live on the school premises while four others live outside the campus. Contact tracing is being done,” said Dr Sanjay Bhatnagar, CMO, Lucknow.
