‘India Toy Fair’ to be held virtually from February 27 to March 2
LUCKNOW : With an aim to boost toy manufacturing in the country and improve its global market share in line with the theme of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, the first ‘India Toy Fair-2021’ will be organized on a virtual platform from February 27 to March 2.
It would include a virtual exhibition and knowledge session with experts on diverse topics such as toy-based pedagogy.
To make the event a grand success, teachers and students of government primary and upper primary schools have been asked to take part in it, said an official.
Teachers, students and parents will learn about toy-based pedagogy and attend webinars on toy-based education. The teachers will be required to post video clips of toy-based educational games, he said.
Sarvendra Vikram Bahadur, director, UP basic education, issued an order directing that all government school teachers, students and their parents must experience the next chapter of the Indian Toy Story unfold on their screen, from February 27 to March 2.
Through the first-ever digitally accessible exhibition and platform, they can not only browse and buy toys, but also participate in events, activities and interact with various stakeholders of the toy industry.
The government has also launched ‘Toycathon-2021’, an online toy hackathon for innovative toys/games concepts. It is conceived to challenge India’s innovative minds to conceptualise novel toys and games based on Indian civilisation, history, culture, mythology and ethos.
In his ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Narendra Modi had said, “India is home to several toy manufacturing clusters and thousands of artisans who produce indigenous toys, which not only have cultural connect, but also help in building life-skills and psychomotor skills among children at an early age.”
Highlighting the importance of toys in moulding a child’s mind, the Prime Minister said toys aligned with Indian culture and ethos should be used as pedagogical tools across all anganwadi centres and schools for all-round development of children.
