Judicial work to remain hit at HC today also
PRAYAGRAJ : The office-bearers of Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) have decided to continue their agitation in protest against the Education Service Tribunal Bill, which provides for setting up of the principal bench of the proposed tribunal at Lucknow.
The high court lawyers, who have been abstaining from judicial work over the issue since Wednesday, will continue to do so on Monday as well.
Addressing the media here on Sunday, HCBA president Amrendra Nath Singh asked, “How can 2.75 lakhs cases (related to education and education service matters pending in the high court) be decided by just nine retired officers?
How will jurisdiction be distributed among Lucknow and
Prayagraj as the bill has no provision in this regard?”
As per provisions of the bill, all the cases pending before Allahabad high court and its Lucknow bench will be transferred to the tribunal. Also, new cases related to education matters can only be filed before the tribunal.
As per Singh, there is a provision in the bill that nine retired officers will decide all the cases related to education and education service matters.
“We are not just fighting for our rights. Rather, we are fighting for the rights of all those teachers who want access to justice but can’t openly raise their voice against the state government,” said HCBA secretary Prabhashankar Mishra.
Jameel Ahmad Ansari, senior vice president, HCBA, Ajit Kumar Mishra, Anil Pathak, Rajnikant Rai, Krishna Kant Mishra, vice-presidents, Abhishek Shukla, joint secretary (administration) and several other office-bearers were present during the press conference.
