Cash looted on gunpoint
PRAYAGRAJ: Rs 1.50 lakh cash was looted on gunpoint from a bank franchise manager in Mauaima area of trans-Ganga on Thursday afternoon. CCTV footages were being scanned to identify the culprits, police said. According to reports, one Nisar Ahmad runs franchise of a bank in Mehraura area.
On Thursday, Nisar and his aide Asharfilal withdrew Rs 1.50 lakh from SBI branch at Ismailpur. They were returning to Mehraura on their bike when armed miscreants waylaid them near Harakhpur village. They took the duo on gunpoint and snatched the bag containing cash from Nisar. Mauaima police reached the scene and carried out investigations. SHO Mauaima Chandrabhan Singh said miscreants from nearby Pratapgarh district may be involved in the incident.
Woman’s body recovered from house
Jhunsi police recovered a body of an 80-year-old woman from a house in Kohna village on information of the locals who were suspicious when they experienced foul smell coming from there. Police has detained the woman’s son who was reportedly living with the corpse for some days. The man is being questioned and body has been sent for autopsy, police said. According to villagers, the woman whose name was Suggan was missing for some days but his son Shahzade aka Jhingur was not giving satisfactory answer about his mother’s mysterious disappearance.
Villagers become suspicious when they experienced foul smell coming out of Suggan’s house following which they called police. Shahzade later informed villagers and police that his mother died some days back. However, he kept mum on why he was hiding her death. SP (trans-Ganga) Dhawal Jaiswal said the man is being questioned further. The exact circumstances of the woman’s death could be ascertained only after postmortem examination, he added.
