S-I on Vidhan Bhawan duty shoots self dead, suicide note recovered

LUCKNOW : Upset over his longterm illness, a Lucknow police sub-inspector on Vidhan Bhawan security duty shot himself dead with his service pistol at the parking lot near gate number 7 here on Thursday, said police officials.

The officials said the police have found a handwritte­n suicide note from his pocket addressed to the chief minister Yogi Adityanath with request to take care of his family members after him.

Lucknow commission­er of police DK Taker said the subinspect­or has mentioned his illness as the reason behind his extreme step in the suicide note.

He said the body has been sent for post-mortem examinatio­n after informing his family members about the incident.

According to police, the incident held at around 3.15 pm when the sub-inspector walked into the parking lot opposite to gate number 7 of the Vidhan Bhawan and shot himself in his chest.

The visuals of the incident have been recorded in a CCTV installed near-by in which the sub-inspector has been seen shooting himself with the pistol.

Inspector of Hazratganj police station, Shyam Babu Shukla said the security personnel at the gate got alerted after hearing the bullet sound and rushed towards to the parking lot to find the sub-inspector lying in pool of blood. He said the sub-inspector was rushed to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee hospital where he was declared brought dead.

OFFICIALS SAID THE POLICE HAVE FOUND A HANDWRITTE­N SUICIDE NOTE FROM HIS POCKET ADDRESSED TO CHIEF MINISTER YOGI ADITYANATH WITH A REQUEST TO TAKE CARE OF HIS FAMILY MEMBERS AFTER HIM.
