LESA IDENTIFIES 57,000 BIG DEFAULTERS

-

LUCKNOW : The Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA) has identified 44,000 big defaulters in cis-Gomti area and 13,000 in trans-Gomti who have not paid their bills for more than two years. The LESA officials are now planning to motivate these consumers to pay their pending bills.

These consumers owe power dues of Rs 45 crore, yet they never got themselves registered for one time settlement (OTS) or any other scheme that would help them clear the pending bills.

Chief engineer, LESA cisGomti , Madhukar Varma said, “We have identified consumers who have not paid the bills for the past two years or more. Some of these consumers have not paid their dues since 2017. I have sought a report from the engineers as to why their connections were not snapped despite huge pending bills.”

“However, I directed the engineers to adopt a sensitive approach due to the ongoing pandemic and just request the consumers to register themselves for the OTS or pay the bills in installments. Failing this, we will issue an auction notice to the defaulters.”

Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration has also identified the areas where the maximum cases of line losses are reported and has decided to start a drive at night and early morning to check power theft.

A LESA official said, “These areas are being monitored by our teams and an eye is kept on the consumers who are using katia or some other means of power theft.”
