Big sports infra boost in select schools, hostels

PRAYAGRAJ : The sports infrastruc­ture is all set to get a boost in Sangam city in the coming days. Under the Smart City initiative, sports infrastruc­ture is all set to be developed in 14 schools and hostels spread across Prayagraj urban limits. The schools and hostels have already been shortliste­d where varied facilities for different sports would come up at a cost of around over 12 crores, inform officials.

For developing the facilities at eight of these sites, the Prayagraj Smart City Limited has recently issued a tender for which the bids would be opened on March 16.

“Our officials had surveyed the campus of these schools and colleges. They had also held meetings with the principals and management of the schools which have adequate space. Education officers were also involved in these meetings,” said

Based on this process, schools and hostels chosen for this project in phase-2 include Bharat Scout and Guide Intermedia­te College, CAV Intermedia­te College, DP Girls Intermedia­te College, Hindu Hostel, KP Intermedia­te College, Prayag Mahila Vidyapeeth Intermedia­te College and Prayag Mahila Degree College, said mission director (technical).

In this latest phase, Bharat Scout Guide School will get a recreation­al handball and minihockey synthetic turf court, a basketball and volleyball court, a walking/jogging track, a kids play zone with equipment, goal post (1 pair), CAV Intermedia­te College will be getting two badminton courts, two table tennis units and a multi-purpose hall of 470 Sqm area even as DP Girls Intermedia­te School will get two synthetic badminton courts and a concrete basketball court while the Hindu Hostel will get three lawn tennis courts, two badminton courts and a basketball court.

Likewise, KP Inter College will get two courts each for badminton, basketball, volleyball and lawn tennis while Prayag Mahila Degree College will get two courts each for badminton and tennis besides one court each for volleyball and kho-kho.

Prayag Mahila Vidyapeeth Inter College will get two concrete badminton courts and a concrete basketball court besides kids play area with equipment.

Officials said that in phase 1, already seven schools of the city were selected including Government Inter College (Boys), Colonelgan­j Inter College, Modern Primary School Alllenganj, CAV Inter College (MG Road), KP Girls Inter College, Hindu Mahila Inter College and Mary Wanamaker Girls Inter College.

Under phase 1, GIC (boys) is being provided with two badminton courts, one volleyball court, one basketball court, two lawn tennis courts, eight cricket net practice area and kids play area while Colonelgan­j Inter College is being provided with two badminton courts, one volleyball court, one basketball court and one kabaddi court.

The premises of Modern Primary School, Alllenganj is being provided with a basketball court and a kabaddi court while CAV Inter College is being provided with two badminton courts, one basketball court and cricket net practice area.

The students of KP Girls Inter College would be provided with two badminton courts, a basketball court and a play area for primary students even as Mary Wanamaker Girls Inter College would get two badminton courts, a basketball court, a volleyball court and kids play area. Hindu Women’s Inter College is also being provided with a badminton court, a basketball court and a play area.
