Doc, staff attacked in Kaushambi district hospital, FIR lodged

PRAYAGRAJ: Manjhanpur police of Kaushambi district registered an FIR against unidentifi­ed people in connection with the alleged assault on a doctor and staff at Kaushambi district hospital on Monday.

Station house officer, Manjhanpur police station, Manish Pandey said an FIR was lodged against unidentifi­ed people for assault and under the Medical Protection Act. Efforts were on to trace them, he added. On Tuesday, a delegation of doctors also met IG range KP Singh and demanded early action against the persons involved in the assault.

Reportedly, Nikhil Dhawan was at sick newborn care unit (SNCU) in Kaushambi district hospital on Monday when some youths reached the spot and began arguing with him over the death of a patient who was referred there sometime back.

The doctor and other staff tried to pacify the youths but they started misbehavin­g and attacked the doctor and staff. Later, the victims lodged a complaint at Manjhanpur Kotwali police station.

One of the attackers was identified as Ranjeet of Shamsabad area. Investigat­ions revealed that Ranjeet’s daughter had died during treatment at the district hospital recently.

Threatenin­g letter to city doctor

PRAYAGRAJ : Doctor Vandana Bansal, wife of slain surgeon Dr AK Bansal, allegedly received a threatenin­g letter in which she was asked to pay money or else be prepared for consequenc­es.

The letter threatens that she will be killed in the same manner in which her husband was murdered over four years ago. A mobile number was also given in the letter.

Kydganj police started a probe into the matter after Vandana informed police about the letter, which, she said she received some days back..
