Familiaris­ation tour to boost influx of tourists into Varanasi

VARANASI: State tourism minister Neelkanth Tiwari has said that prominent tour operators of various states will tour different destinatio­ns in Kashi under familiaris­ation tour or Fam tour from March 11 to March 13.

The minister said the tourism department will organise the tour to apprise the tourists of various developmen­t works carried out in the temple town.

The purpose of the tour is to make the tour operators know about these places so that they may apprise people of their states of these destinatio­ns leading to the increase in number of domestic tourists to Varanasi.

The tour operators will be taken to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. Besides, they will be apprised of Kashi Vishwanath corridor project and work being done under it, Tiwari said after his meeting with tourism department officials here on Tuesday.

They will also be taken to Markandey Mahadev Kathy, Shooltanke­shwar temple, Rameshwara­m temple, Maan Mahal observator­y, and Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya trade facilitati­on centre.

They will also see the light and sound show at Sarnath. Moreover, the minister said the Mahashivra­tri mahotsav will be organised at Rajghat from March 11 to March 16.

He said that a cultural event will be held at Rajghat daily. Padma awardee Pt Rajan Sajan Mishra will present religious songs on March 11.

Noted singer Kailash Kher will give a performanc­e on March 13. There will be Kavi Sammelan at Rajghat on March 12. Padma awardee classical folk singer Malini Awasthi will take part in the event on March 16, he added.
