Youth beaten to death in Meja

PRAYAGRAJ: An 18-year-old youth was beaten to death allegedly over a land dispute, in Nevadhia village, under the trans-Yamuna Meja police station area, late on Tuesday night. An FIR was lodged against four persons in this connection on the complaint of the youth’s kin, police said.

According to reports, farmer Ramdas Binds’s son, Anand Bind, used to help his father in the fields. Ramdas Bind informed the police that he was in a dispute with his relatives over property. On Tuesday night, Hoti Lal, his wife, Rajeshwari, and two others took Anand with them on some pretext and murdered him. They later threw the body near their house. Ramdas rushed to the spot on receiving the informatio­n in the morning and called the police. Saurabh Dixit, SP, trans-Yamuna, said that an FIR has been lodged against four persons and efforts were on to nab them.

According to reports, a seven-day ‘Katha’ had been organised at a temple in Varuna Bazar area. Trader Balchand’s son, Ankush, 8, had also gone to attend the gathering along with other locals. However, Ankush went missing during ‘Arti’ on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday morning, Ankush’s body was spotted on the banks of Varuna River at least 50 metres away from the temple.

Phulpur police reached the spot on receiving the informatio­n and carried out investigat­ions. Rajkishor, SHO, Phulpur police station, said that no injuries were found on the body and the exact circumstan­ces of the boy’s death would be ascertaine­d after receiving the autopsy report. following which force was deployed in the village.

According to reports, a teenage girl had gone to graze goats in the fields where one Talib and Aman allegedly harassed her.

The girl’s family went to complain to the family of the youth, where the two sides ended up arguing. As tempers flared, both groups clashed with each other resulting in injuries to some people, including the girl’s mother.

Police officials reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Dhawal Jaiswal, SP, trans-Ganga, said that an FIR has been lodged against three persons in this connection.

Fire breaks out at private hosp in Kashi VARANASI: Patients and their kin panicked after a fire broke out in a private Galaxy Hospital in Mahmoorgan­j area of Varanasi on Wednesday morning, said police and added that all the patients were rescued. A fire brigade officer said that fire broke out on the third floor of the hospital.

Animesh Singh, chief fire officer, Varanasi, said that four fire tenders were pitched in to fight the flames. It took them around an hour to control it.
